Business and Industry

Development around Lake Lanier brought new kinds of businesses to the area and provided jobs for locals.
Virginia Saine: “It brought other people in, chances to meet new people, new businesses, new ideas that we had not had before. I can remember my first pizza and my first Mexican food and Chinese food and all that because none of it was available when I was growing up.”
Alan Wayne: “On Lights Ferry Road, just before you go into Aqualand Marina, [Mr. Hamner] built a restaurant and it was called the Fish and Fiddle. … It was one of the first restaurants dedicated to Lake Lanier as a lakeside.”
